PEET Trustee Generation Sector

Richard currently works for Meridian Energy as their Strategic Asset Manager and is responsible for both reliability and strategic engineering services, comprising condition monitoring, risk management, asset management policy, planning and development of asset and maintenance strategies. Richard is also responsible for the implementation of all major projects across Meridian's electricity generating asset portfolio.

Richard graduated with a BE(hons) Mechanical from Canterbury University and spent much of his formative years in the copper, aluminium and gold mining and smelting industries in Australia, NZ, UK, Tanzania and Zambia. Richard entered the NZ energy sector in 1999 and since joining Meridian in 2000 has held several senior engineering and management positions with a primary focus on establishing a best practice asset management capability.

Richard contributes to the wider industry with an executive committee role on the Board of the Electricity Engineers Association (EEA), is a member of the EEA Asset Management Group and is a founding member of Staylive, an industry group focussed on improving H&S across the electricity supply industry through sharing and developing best practices and consistent procedures across NZs electricity generation companies.

Richard represents the generation industry on the Power Engineering Excellence Trust, and has been a Board Member of the EPECentre since April 2017.
